Please use these instructions and reference the YouTube video linked on this page to start up and shut off the gas range / oven / flat top in Holy Family Hall kitchen.
To Turn On:
1. Turn on the overhead light switch located on the range hood.
2. Turn on the main gas valve located behind the flat top against the wall. The red handle should be aligned with the pipe to begin the flow of gas. Do not turn on the red valves on the blue gas hoses behind the fryers.
3. Light the pilot lights in the center of all 6 range top burners.
4. Open the hinged covers below each oven door.
5. Light both oven pilot lights (2) by holding the small red button on the gas regulator while lighting the pilot light. Continue to hold the red button for about 5 seconds after each pilot light ignites to ensure it doesn’t go back out.
6. Turn on the flat top gas control knobs, light both flat top pilot lights (2) located next to the left of each flat top control knob, and then turn the knobs back to the off position.
7. Turn on the overhead exhaust fan switch located on the range hood.
**Note: All pilot lights must be lit at all times when the main gas valve is on to prevent gas leaking into the kitchen from an extinguished pilot light.** **Note: In case of fire on the gas range, an installed extinguisher should automatically activate. The system may also be manually activated using the pull box by the kitchen exit door.**
To Shut Off:
1. Turn off all gas control knobs on the range, flat top, and oven.
2. Close the main gas valve located behind the flat top. The red handle should be turned across the pipe direction to shut off the flow of gas.
3. Turn off the overhead light and exhaust fan switches located on the range hood.
