“So, could you not watch with me one hour? Watch and pray that you may not enter into temptation; the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak. Are you still sleeping and taking your rest? Behold, the hour is at hand, and the Son of man is betrayed into the hands of sinners. Rise, let us be going; see, my betrayer is at hand.”
- Matthew 26: 40-41, 45-46
Following the Mass of the Last Supper on Holy Thursday until the Stations of the Cross on Friday, Saint Anne's keeps a constant vigil with Jesus in the Eternal Adoration Chapel as we contemplate His imprisonment, passion, and death. There will be two guards continuously keeping watch with Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament inside the Eternal Adoration Chapel for those hours.
Men of the parish are needed to stand guard with our Lord from the end of Holy Thursday evening Mass until 3:00pm on Good Friday. All adult men and mature young men of the parish are invited to participate.
Confirmation service hours will be given for young men who serve for an hour with their father or other adult male guardian.
Members of the Knights of Columbus, military, law enforcement, first responders, scouts, Civil Air Patrol, and similar organizations are encouraged to wear appropriate uniforms in testament to the presence of Christ in their vocation of service. Guards not in a uniform should wear suit and tie.
